Weddings
Janet and Paul
The wedding of Janet Rothera and Paul Carless took place at
Chelmsford Cathedral on Saturday 22 October 2005. The bells pf the Cathedral had
been rung in the morning to a peal of Stedman Cinques by members of the Ancient
Society of College Youths and were rung after the wedding by friends and family.
About 80 people attended; many of them ringers as this is how Janet & Paul
met. They are both members of the St Paul's Cathedral Guild and now live in
Mortimer, Berkshire.
After the traditional photos outside the Cathedral, Janet and
Paul made their way to Mulberry House at High Ongar for the reception. The
grounds here are magnificent and as the weather was good we were able to enjoy
the views whilst socialising and drinking champagne. We all enjoyed a superb
meal of roast beef and lots of wine before the speeches. First, Janet's Dad
reminded us of her childhood days, the silly things she did (liking accidentally
going to play school without any knickers on and being sent home!), and the many
travels from Russia, to Japan and China. Paul spoke to offer many thank-you's
and then David Hull, the best man, told us some amusing stories. The evening
ended with some dancing, lots of chatting and of course more drinking.
